Tips for shopping!

1- Don’t go when you are hungry
2- Plan a weekly menu
3- Make a list of the foods you need and stick to it
4- Beware of the end of the aisle “sale items”, they are usually junk food items

5- Shop the Perimeter

Fruits and Veggies

Fresh: Buy Seasonal

Frozen: Watch for Added Sauces

Canned: Look for Low Sodium or No Salt Added Vegetables, or Rinse. Select Fruit Canned in Water or its Own Juice.

Meats

Choose lean unprocessed meats

-Skinless Chicken, Fish, Pork Loin, 97/3 Ground Beef

Breads and Grains

Choose Breads that are 100% Whole Wheat or Whole Grain

Choose High Fiber Grains and Cereals
